Exceptional Metadata Management
Your data pipeline has to be able to handle all types of data types and data sizes. With today’s environments reaching 10s of millions or even billions of files, the metadata design of traditional enterprise storage can’t keep up. WEKA eliminates metadata challenges with its innovative virtual metadata servers. The system doesn’t rely on just one or a few metadata servers. Instead, it runs multiple virtual metadata services across all the nodes in a cluster. Each metadata server only handles a small portion of the total namespace, so the workload is automatically distributed.
The AI Native WEKA® Data Platform patented data layout and virtual metadata servers distribute and parallelize all metadata and data across the cluster for incredibly low latency and high performance no matter the file size or number.
Efficient Multitenancy

Flexible Multi-Protocol
Data-intensive workflows typically involve moving data through a pipeline with various steps handing it off from one application to another to perform essential processing. In many workflows, the applications are disparate and speak different languages because they are optimized for a single use case. Many of these workflows also have performance requirements across these multiple applications that force customers to copy data to an optimal location for each application.
The WEKA Data Platform delivers a complete multiprotocol stack, including POSIX, S3, NFS, and SMB, giving customers the ability to centralize their data and eliminating the need to copy data between systems so that different applications can more easily access and act on it.
Intelligent Tiering
Traditionally, data tiering in file systems has been driven solely by data-aging policies, but organizations need to leverage the power of their storage systems that span multiple compute nodes, NVMe storage servers, and high speed connectivity to object storage to tier data in parallel. This enables them to perform operations efficiently, sustainably, and without compromising performance.
WEKA’s data tiering is performance-conscious and avoids frequent reads and writes to tiered storage. Data that is tiered to object storage is made useable for data protection scenarios rather than being idle cold storage. WEKA’s tiering framework is more comprehensive than data age-based tiering policy and tiers data only after applications have derived full value from being in the NVMe storage tier.
Zero-Copy Architecture
WEKA’s zero-copy approach provides both scale-up and scale-out capabilities in a single storage system, eliminating storage silos and scaling limitations associated with legacy storage systems.
The ability to deliver high performance across multiple types of workloads without additional tuning is a foundation for a zero-copy architecture. Multiprotocol access complements this performance, preventing data silos from being created by simultaneously enabling access to data across all protocols. This zero-copy philosophy simplifies data operations and improves time-to-value for the data itself.
